Welcome to my website. After 50 years of employment starting as a food prep in a retirement home at the age of 15 ($1.55/hr!) and ending with a wonderful stint as the face of Seaspan Victoria Shipyard I have retired from full time employment. Now months into being jobless, I find time is slowing down, life is altering to a different rhythm, but the mind continues to desire engagement.
I have set up this site to open the potential of advising individuals and companies where my skills and knowledge can be valuable and effective. I will be retiring back to the Portland Oregon area early next year but starting this process this fall from the great city of Victoria in British Columbia.
I have consulted in the past primarily in the maritime sector. I did enjoy the process and did learn what I liked and disliked about continuing working in this field. I resisted the need to maximize revenue by providing the thoughts and recommendations the client wanted to hear. And as happens in much in life many of the engagements ended in a friendly fashion but early in the process; my skills or personality did not match their needs. And a few clients matched with my skills and presented an enjoyable and valuable interaction for both parties.
Please peruse the various pages on this site, I have endeavoured to capture what I can bring to the table and what I cannot. And I hope to have the time and courage to add some written observations on parts of my journey; what I think I have learned and maybe just some stories that will entertain.
