2024 is finishing up, another year of contentment and enjoyment on being done with career building. I continue to consult primarily in M&A support and the Maritime Build and Repair sector. I want to extend my appreciation to those who have taken my calls and visits, continuing my connection with the industry and staying in touch with valued acquaintances and collegues.
From my perspective, domestic ship repair continues to thrive with the movement away from USN cost plus contracts complete and the industry relearning to compete under a different set of rules. I enjoy seeing the major companies I was fortunate to work with and for (Vigor, BAE, Seaspan Victoria Shipyards) continue to prosper, each bringing their different strengths to execution of the work. The domestic build market continues to struggle to build at an acceptable speed and cost, with a significant increase in subcontracting of fabrication to address both of those concerns.
I will continue to consult where I believe I can add value over the next years. As my spouse and I are now in Scottsdale Arizona for a couple months, we have embraced the avoidance of part of the cold and wet winter. Our ability to accomplish very little is being highly developed.
